The VE.Bus BMS protects each cell of a Victron lithium-iron-phosphate (LiFePO4 or LFP) battery. This BMS is only for Victron Energy SMART LiFePO4 batteries
Each cell of a LiFePO4 battery must be protected against deep discharge, overcharge and high temperatures. Victron LiFePO4 batteries have integrated temperature and voltage balancing control (abbreviation: BTV) and connect to the VE.Bus BMS using two sets of M8 circular connectors. The BTV of some batteries can be chained. Please refer to the LiFePO4 battery documentation for details.
The BMS performs the following functions:
Turns off or disconnects the load in the event of battery cell undervoltage.
It will limit the charging current in case of overvoltage of the battery cell or in case of overheating (only products with Ve.Bus system, which VE.Bus BMS can control via VE.Bus).
Turns off or disconnects the charger in case of cell overvoltage or overheating.
