Victron Energy MultiPlus-II 24/3000/70-32 230V GX

In addition to the MultiPlus II, the MultiPlus-II GX includes a GX device and a 2 x 16 character display.
The display shows the parameters of the solar regulator, inverter and battery.
The same parameters can be accessed using a smartphone or other device that supports Wi-Fi. Multiplus can then be configured with this device.
The integrated GX device (similar to the Venus GX device) includes:

  • BMS-Can interface, this can be used to connect CAN bus compatible batteries. Note: this is not a VE.Can port
  • VE.Can interface.
  • USB port.
  • Ethernet port.
  • VE.Direct port.


MultiPlus-II GX combines the functions of MultiPlus and MultiGrid
It has all the functions of an inverter with the UPS MultiPlus function and, in addition, the possibility of connecting an external current sensor for the PowerControl and PowerAssist functions with optimization of its own consumption (max. 32A).
It also has all the functions of a MultiGrid unit with built-in anti-islanding protection on its AC input – enhanced protection against unwanted supplies to the distribution network in the event of a power outage.
Integrated adaptive and fully configurable charger of the connected battery
The charger has four stages of charging with an adaptive charger. The main charging output can be fully configured, see specifications for charger performance. The second 4 A output is intended for charging a second battery (for example, a generator starter battery).
MultiPlus-II GX is intended for charging all types of lead, alkaline and lithium batteries.
Virtually unlimited performance thanks to parallel operation
Up to 6 MultiPlus-II units can work in parallel to achieve the desired higher performance. When connected in parallel, only one unit in GX design is enough, the others can be normal without GX.
Three-phase operation
Three units of the same type can be configured for three-phase operation with phase shift. But that's not all, up to 6 parallel units can form one phase. A three-phase system can thus consist of up to 18 units with a total continuous output power of 43.2 kW/54 kVA and a charging power of 1260 A. With a three-phase connection, only one unit in the GX version is also sufficient.
Unique features of the PowerControl and PowerAssist functions
MultiPlus-II GX prevents overloading of a power-limited AC source, e.g. a current-limited electric hook-up or generator, typically at a campsite or marina. If there should be an overload of the input AC source due to a large consumption and thus the connection is switched off by the input circuit breaker, the charging current to the battery (PowerControl) will be automatically reduced in the first step. Charging energy is diverted to power AC appliances. In the second step, the input AC source is strengthened by the current taken from the battery (PowerAssist). The AC output receives both energy from the external network and the battery (inverter).
Many variants of use

  1. The basic installation of the MultiPlus-II GX is like a regular UPS. Intended for systems where a network is not always available (typically caravans, boats, backup power systems). Appliances on AC OUT-1 are powered primarily from the mains, the battery is recharged, if there is a power failure, the appliances are automatically powered from the inverter (from the battery). Appliances on AC-out2 are powered only from the mains, in the event of a mains failure they are not powered.
     
  2. Similar to 1. Intended for systems where mains is not always available (typically caravans, boats, backup power systems). Appliances on AC OUT-1 are powered primarily from the mains, the battery is recharged, if there is a power failure, the appliances are automatically powered from the inverter (from the battery). Using a current sensor at AC-out2, which is outside the MultiPlus-II GX. Appliances on AC out-2 are powered primarily from the mains, in the event of a possible excess of the input AC current, they are also powered from the battery, but are not powered in the event of a mains failure.
